North Central junior Abigail Penados has been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week in women's tennis for the fourth time in the 2024-25 season. The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon.

Penados achieved a record of three wins and two losses at the Midwest Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin, over the past weekend.

Originating from Morton Grove, Illinois, Penados teamed up with Kensington Payne to secure a 6-4 victory at #1 doubles against Hope’s Amanda Lopykinski and Sullivan Moran last Friday. In singles, Penados was leading Lopykinski 7-5, 5-1 when the match was decided.

Facing Luther the following day, Penados and Payne again achieved success, winning 6-2 at the top doubles position against Julia Moreno and Allie Christensen. At #1 singles, Penados claimed a 6-2, 6-0 win in straight sets against Mainou Ramirez.

Notably, Penados has previously been named the CCIW Women's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week on March 4, October 23, and October 2.

Other students honored in the 2024-25 season include Kaitlyn Mullins from Millikin on March 25, Natasa Pupovac from Carroll on March 18, and Hannah Colbert from Augustana on February 26 and September 18.
