Mariellyn Vivo Conference Coordinator | College Conference Of Wisconsin And Illinois

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced the Baseball Student-Athletes of the Week for the games played between March 31 and April 6.

Sophomore John Philip Ferraro from Illinois Wesleyan was named the hitter of the week. He went 9-for-17, hitting home runs in three consecutive starts. Ferraro contributed to five wins for the Titans, with 10 runs batted in, five runs scored, and a slugging percentage of 1.118. His hit streak increased to nine games since March 14.

Junior Zach DeMarlie from Augustana was recognized as the pitcher of the week for his performance in a 5-0 shutout against Millikin. DeMarlie pitched for seven scoreless innings, throwing 103 pitches, striking out four, and allowing five hits. So far this season, he has recorded a 3-0 record with a 2.15 ERA over 37.2 innings.

Previous student-athletes of the week include Nate Sommerfeld from North Park, Rock Smith from Elmhurst, Joey Appino from Carroll, Kaileb Hackman from Augustana, and Noah Yi from Wheaton. For pitchers, Bryce Schaum from Carthage, Nate Burden from Wheaton, Nathan Melby from Augustana, and Zach O’Donnell from Millikin have been recognized in earlier weeks of 2025.
