The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced its Men's Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week for the period between March 24 and March 30. The awards, announced on Tuesday, recognize outstanding performances on the field.
In the offensive category, the recipient is Timothy McHugh, a sophomore at Illinois Wesleyan from Orland Park, Illinois. "Tuesday’s announcement marks McHugh’s second consecutive CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week award," stated the CCIW. McHugh was pivotal in his team's victory over Adrian, scoring four goals and making four assists in their 23-18 win on Saturday.
On the defensive side, Aidan Murphy, a senior from North Central in Lindenhurst, Illinois, received the accolade. Murphy's contributions were significant in North Central's narrow 9-8 victory against Calvin on Saturday in Naperville. He made 19 saves on 50 shots faced, boosting his season's save percentage to .661 and his goals-against average to 8.21.
This week's announcement is part of the ongoing recognition of athletes who have excelled in the CCIW Men’s Lacrosse season.
