The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has named its Men's Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week for performances during matches played from March 17 to March 23.
Carson Steinbach, a junior from North Central, was recognized as the Hitter of the Week. He averaged 3.50 points and 3.25 kills per set with an attack percentage of .328, contributing to two CCIW victories for the Cardinals. In a five-set match against Carthage on Wednesday in Naperville, Steinbach recorded 18 kills, 10 digs, and five assists. He followed this with eight kills on a .412 hitting percentage and seven digs in a three-set win over Illinois Wesleyan.
Tyler Donovan, also from North Central and a graduate student, was named Setter of the Week. Donovan achieved near career-high numbers with 54 assists in the victory over Carthage, marking the third-highest assists in a match in North Central's history. Additionally, he had seven kills in that game. On Saturday against Illinois Wesleyan, Donovan added six error-free kills, 24 assists, and three service aces to his performance record for the week.
Owen Hendricks from Carthage was honored as Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore delivered an average of 2.75 digs per set for the Firebirds last week. During Wednesday’s match at North Central, Hendricks tallied 17 digs and one solo block while also contributing offensively with a total of 22 kills across two league matches.
