North Park University sprinter Jereme Ombogo has been recognized as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's Track Midwest Athlete of the Year. This accolade marks a significant milestone, as Ombogo is the first representative from North Park to earn the title of Regional Athlete of the Year.
Ombogo, originally from Houston, Texas, achieved personal records and earned First-Team All-America honors at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. He recorded a time of 6.69 seconds in the 60 meters preliminaries, which stands as the fifth-fastest mark in NCAA Division III history. Additionally, he clocked 21.34 seconds in the 200 meters preliminaries, ranking as the 12th fastest time ever. In these events, Ombogo secured fourth and eighth place finishes respectively.
Earlier in his season at the CCIW Indoor Championships, Ombogo scored an impressive 20 points with victories in both the 55 meters and 200 meters races. His achievements extend beyond athletics; he was also named North Park's Male Jack Swartz award recipient for his academic excellence alongside his track accomplishments.
The USTFCCCA awards recognize top athletes and coaches across ten regions: East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, and West. Both male and female track athletes are honored along with field athletes and head coaches. The selection process involves voting by USTFCCCA member coaches and is limited to individuals from member programs.
