Women's lacrosse teams prepare for upcoming CCIW matches

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) women's lacrosse teams are gearing up for a series of matches in the coming days. On Friday, March 14, Carthage will face Southwestern at 4:00 p.m. Saturday's schedule includes Carroll playing against Southwestern at 11:00 a.m., Wisconsin-Stevens Point visiting Augustana at noon, and MSOE taking on Elmhurst at 3:30 p.m. On Monday, March 17, Wisconsin-Stevens Point will compete against Elmhurst at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday's games feature Spalding at North Central at 2:00 p.m., Illinois Wesleyan traveling to Calvin for a match at 3:00 p.m., Carroll facing Edgewood and Concordia Wisconsin meeting Carthage both at 5:00 p.m.

Several players have made notable national rankings in Division III statistics. Illinois Wesleyan senior Mia Fiandaca leads with an average of 6.20 caused turnovers per game and ranks fifth with six ground balls per game. Carroll senior Grace Tumilty is third nationally with an average of 4.83 caused turnovers per game. North Central's Abby MacKenzie ranks sixth with an average of 9.80 draw controls per game.

Carthage sophomore August Claridge holds the eleventh position nationally with an average of 5.33 goals per game and also ranks high in shots on goal and total shots per game categories. Kara Jaynes from Carthage is noted for her .589 saves percentage.

Augustana currently has a balanced record of three wins and three losses, leading the CCIW in saves and ground balls per game categories, largely due to performances by Dylan Karjalahti and Elena Bechard.

Carroll boasts a strong start to their season with five wins out of six games, led by Grace Brockman in assists and Elizabeth Wang in goals scored.

Carthage remains unbeaten after six matches this season, showcasing the league’s top-ranked offense and defense statistics as they prepare to face Southwestern next.

Elmhurst has secured victories over Hanover, Illinois Tech, and Lawrence through contributions from Gracie Eastman who ranks second in points within the CCIW.

Illinois Wesleyan has shown defensive strength early this season while Mia Fiandaca continues to lead nationally in caused turnovers.

North Central began their campaign strongly with four wins out of five matches, led by Abby MacKenzie's scoring efforts and Alyssa Rose’s goalkeeping skills.
