The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has named its Women's Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week for performances during games from March 3 to March 9.
Abby MacKenzie, a senior from North Central, was recognized for her offensive prowess. In a match against Wisconsin-Stevens Point last Saturday in Naperville, MacKenzie scored six goals contributing to the Cardinals' decisive 16-3 victory. She successfully placed 11 out of her 12 shots on target and added significant contributions with 11 draw controls, five ground balls, and one caused turnover. Her goal at the 8:46 mark in the second quarter was crucial as it became the game-winning score.
On the defensive side, Grace Tumilty from Carroll University earned accolades for her role in leading the Pioneers to two victories last week, maintaining their undefeated record at 5-0. In Friday's match against Concordia Wisconsin, which ended with a score of 19-2, Tumilty recorded four ground balls, three caused turnovers, and two draw controls. On Sunday against Wisconsin-River Falls, she further demonstrated her skills with five draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls aiding in an 11-9 win.
These recognitions are part of CCIW's weekly acknowledgment of outstanding student-athletes in women's lacrosse.
