Carthage and Loras have advanced in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) rankings, with Carthage reaching #4 and Loras moving to #11. The rankings were released on Tuesday. North Central maintained its position at #18, ensuring that three teams from the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) remain in the national top-20.
Both Carthage and Loras improved by one spot. Carthage extended its winning streak to eight matches, bringing their overall record to 13-2 and 3-0 within the CCIW. Last week, they secured victories against ranked opponents Loras and North Central. In Tuesday’s poll, Carthage accumulated 507 points, following NYU, Southern Virginia, and Springfield.
Despite a loss at Carthage on Saturday, Loras moved up a spot. The Duhawks had previously won eight consecutive matches and now hold a 9-2 overall record with a 3-1 mark in the CCIW. They received 294 points in the new poll.
North Central remains at #18 with an overall record of 9-5 and a CCIW record of 2-2. The Cardinals returned to winning form on Saturday with a sweep at North Park, earning them 100 points in the ballots.
