The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced the Men's Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week for matches played from February 24 to March 2.
Ben Heise, a sophomore from Carthage, was recognized as the Hitter of the Week. Heise achieved 12 kills and a .579 hitting percentage in Carthage's victory over North Central. On Saturday, he recorded 10 kills with a .643 hitting percentage in a match against Loras. Over the week, Heise averaged 3.67 kills and 4.33 points per set with a .606 hitting percentage and also contributed a service ace during the win at Loras.
Ryan Morey, a junior from Carthage, was named Setter of the Week. Morey provided an average of 11.67 assists per set in league victories over North Central and Loras. In Wednesday's game against North Central, he had 30 assists followed by a performance with 40 assists on Saturday in Dubuque. Additionally, Morey added seven digs and one service ace in Wednesday’s match.
Gavin Rohlwing, a freshman from Illinois Wesleyan, earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this year after accumulating 15 total blocks across two conference matches last week. Rohlwing completed Wednesday’s match at North Park with seven blocks and added eight more during Saturday’s win over Augustana, averaging 1.88 blocks per set for the week.
