The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has released its annual All-Conference Team for women's basketball. The announcement, made on Monday afternoon, highlighted several standout athletes and coaches from the league.
Olivia Rangel, a senior from Carroll, was named the Lori Kerans CCIW Most Outstanding Student-Athlete. Rangel is Carroll's first recipient of this award since 1987 and has been selected to the All-CCIW First Team four times. She led the league in assists per game and total steals during regular-season play and ranked second in scoring and assist-to-turnover ratio.
Millikin freshman Nikkel Johnson received the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year award. Johnson concluded her debut season with notable statistics, including a high field-goal percentage that ranked second among all league players.
Illinois Wesleyan head coach Mia Smith was honored with the Beth Baker CCIW Coach of the Year award for the seventh time. Under her leadership, Illinois Wesleyan achieved a 15-1 record in league play and an overall record of 24-1, reaching as high as #2 in national rankings. The team excelled in various statistical categories throughout the season.
Five players were unanimously selected for the All-CCIW First Team: Olivia Rangel and Natalie Gricius from Carroll, Marianna Morrissey from Carthage, Kristin Bukata from Elmhurst, and Lauren Huber from Illinois Wesleyan. Four players were repeat selections on this list.
In addition to these honors, other players were recognized on both the All-CCIW Second Team and as recipients of the CCIW RESPECT Award.
