CCIW swimming & diving championships begin with records and wins

The 74th annual College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Swimming & Diving Championships commenced at the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Six events were completed on the first day of the four-day competition.

Diving events took place at Carthage’s Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha. Taydin Murphy from Carthage emerged victorious in both men's 1-meter and 3-meter diving, with scores of 411.65 and 386.35 respectively.

In women's diving, Lara Stamp from Wheaton secured a win in the 1-meter event with a score of 341.95, while Gabriella Garcia from Carthage claimed victory on the 3-meter board with a score of 298.60.

Wheaton's relay team consisting of Katie Yonan, Scottie McKeaney, Olivia Wiebe, and Tess Boyer won the women's 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:40.08 at the RecPlex.

The men's team from Augustana—comprising Tyler Leslie, Mark Addison, Gavin McCorry, and Oskar Bannister—set a meet record in the men's 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 6:41.84.

The championships continue Thursday with preliminary rounds starting at 10:30 a.m., followed by finals scheduled for Thursday night at 6 p.m., all taking place at the RecPlex.
