The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced Eden Hernandez from North Central as the Student-Athlete of the Week in women's wrestling. The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon.

Hernandez, a freshman wrestler, achieved a 4-0 record and won the 117-pound bracket at the Quad Cities D3 Invite held in Rock Island last Sunday. Her victories included wins over two All-American opponents.

Originally from San Clemente, California, Hernandez began her performance by pinning Aurora's Sharon Moreno in just 40 seconds during her opening match. She continued her success by pinning Randolph's Kylie Brigman in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, she defeated Carthage All-American Natalie Majer by fall. Hernandez concluded her tournament run with a decisive 10-2 victory over Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s All-American RoseAnn Marshall in the finals.

The list of CCIW Women's Wrestling Student-Athletes of the Week for the 2024-25 season includes several athletes: Sawyer Graham from Augustana on January 21, Alexis Janiak from Aurora on January 14, Sandie Pfeil from Augustana on January 7, Nadia Thomas from North Central on December 17, Aroma Marrufo from North Central on December 11, Moni Griffin from Augustana on November 26, Kirsten Cortez from Carthage on November 19, Amani Jones from North Central on November 12, and Sara Sterner also from North Central on November 5.
