State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro has expressed her views on the lawsuit filed by the Trump Justice Department against Illinois, Cook County, and Chicago over their sanctuary status. She criticizes what she perceives as a prioritization of politics over public safety.

"The federal lawsuit filed against Illinois, Chicago, and Cook County is a direct result of failed policies that put politics ahead of public safety," Sanalitro stated. She believes that these policies compromise the security of families in Illinois.

Sanalitro argues that the sanctuary status limits law enforcement's ability to remove dangerous individuals from communities. "The fact that local officials are refusing even the most basic cooperation with immigration enforcement is both reckless and unacceptable," she commented.

With concerns about rising crime rates in Chicago and other areas, Sanalitro emphasizes supporting law enforcement efforts. "I stand with the men and women of law enforcement and with law-abiding Illinoisans who deserve safer communities," she affirmed.
