Illinois residents will soon have the option to access their driver's licenses and state IDs through digital wallets, thanks to legislation passed in the Illinois House of Representatives (HB4592). The initiative is set to begin with Apple Wallet by the end of 2025, with future plans to expand to other platforms such as Google Wallet. This new feature will enable users to securely store and use their IDs on an iPhone or Apple Watch. Illinois joins ten other states that already offer digital IDs.

Residents interested in learning more about the program or signing up for updates can visit the Secretary of State’s website.
