Illinois residents who did not receive COVID stimulus payments in 2021 may automatically get up to $1,400 from the IRS starting in late January. This initiative is part of a $2.4 billion distribution aimed at an estimated one million eligible taxpayers. These payments are for individuals who did not claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns.

The IRS has provided detailed eligibility and payment information on its website. Taxpayers will be informed if they qualify for these payments.
