State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro has announced that January 2025 will be recognized as National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. The Republican representative from Hanover Park is calling on residents of Illinois to increase awareness and take action against the growing issue of human trafficking within their communities.

"Human trafficking is a violation of human rights that continues to affect communities across Illinois," stated Rep. Sanalitro. "Raising awareness is a key step toward prevention, protection, and supporting survivors."

Though exact numbers are hard to determine, estimates suggest over one million people fall victim to human trafficking in the United States each year. For those seeking more information on recognizing signs of human trafficking, resources are available on the Illinois State Police’s website: www.isp.illinois.gov/Home/HumanTrafficking.

Rep. Sanalitro encourages anyone who suspects or knows someone may be a victim of human trafficking to report it to local authorities and utilize the National Human Trafficking Hotline at www.humantraffickinghotline.org.

For further details or inquiries, Representative Sanalitro’s office can be reached at 630-349-0645.

Representative Sanalitro serves House District 48, covering Addison, Bensenville, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Itasca, Medinah, Roselle, Schaumburg, and Wood Dale in suburban DuPage and Cook counties.
