Illinois offers $5 million in grants for fire station improvements

State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro of Hanover Park is urging fire departments across Illinois to apply for a new funding opportunity aimed at enhancing public safety and community infrastructure. A total of $5 million in grant funding is available for fire departments statewide to rehabilitate or construct fire stations. Applications must be submitted by February 28, 2025.

“These grants are an incredible opportunity for our fire departments to modernize and enhance their facilities,” said Rep. Sanalitro. “More importantly these grants give our communities access to better services and safety.”

The grant funding is part of a state initiative designed to support essential emergency services and ensure that fire departments have the necessary resources to effectively protect residents of Illinois. Fire departments are encouraged to act quickly to take full advantage of this opportunity.

For more information about the grant and application process, fire departments can visit https://sfm.illinois.gov/iam/firedepartment/grants-and-loans.html or contact Representative Sanalitro's office directly at 630-349-0645.
