Three men from Cook County are facing serious charges following an alleged kidnapping and assault incident in Lombard, Illinois. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin and Lombard Chief of Police Thomas Wirsing announced the charges against Philip Stamps Sr., 47, Philip Stamps Jr., 22, and Joevontae Dixon, 23. Each defendant appeared in court where Judge Joshua Dieden denied the state's motion to detain them.

The charges include aggravated kidnapping with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery, and aggravated battery in a public place. The events unfolded on November 6 at a BP gas station where police responded to reports of a fight. Officers discovered that those involved had left the scene but found an Infinity Q45 belonging to the victim.

Investigations revealed that the victim met Stamps Jr. for a potential car sale when things took a violent turn. It is alleged that Stamps Jr., along with Dixon and Stamps Sr., attacked the victim and drove him away against his will. During this ordeal, it is claimed they threatened him and forced him to contact his family for money.

At approximately 3:13 p.m., police located the minivan used by the suspects in Chicago, leading to their arrest. The victim was found with injuries including bite marks and contusions requiring hospital treatment.

Berlin commented on the case stating, “The type of violent behavior alleged against these three defendants is extremely alarming and will not be tolerated in DuPage County.” He expressed gratitude towards law enforcement agencies involved in resolving the case.

Wirsing also thanked various departments for their cooperation saying, “The Lombard Police Department would like to thank the Elmhurst and Chicago Police Departments...for their assistance.”

The next court date for all three defendants is set for December 2 before Judge Margaret O’Connell. If convicted, they face six to thirty years in prison.

It is important to note that these charges are allegations; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
