FOIA Request Sent to City of Darien Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the City of Darien on October 28, 2024. The request was made by the DuPage Policy Journal, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

In our pursuit of transparency and accountability, we requested records detailing all unpaid parking violations within the city. Specifically, we asked for a list that includes the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date of each violation, and the total amount due.

As journalists committed to serving public interest, access to such public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to our readership.

We believe that as media professionals engaged in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

Our team at DuPage Policy Journal will continue to strive for openness and accountability from public institutions as part of our commitment to comprehensive local government reporting.
