State Representative Nicole La Ha highlighted her fellow House members who are also farmers in an October 12 Facebook post, saying, "Thank you for all the hard work you do!"

"Happy National Farmer's Day," said La Ha, according to Facebook. "Especially to these House members! Thank you for all the hard work you do!"

According to La Ha's Facebook post, she shared a link to a post by the Illinois House Republicans. This post highlighted several representatives with farming backgrounds: Rep. Jason R. Bunting as a sixth-generation farmer; Rep. Brad Fritts as a fourth-generation farmer; Rep. Dan Swanson as a fifth-generation farmer; Rep. Chris Miller as a third-generation farmer; Rep. Charlie Meier as a fourth-generation farmer; and Rep. Blaine Wilhour as a soybean and corn farmer in Fayette, Effingham, and Shelby Counties.

The post text reads: "This National Farmer's Day we honor the men, women, and families who work our lands to keep the world fed, clothed, and fueled. Today we want to recognize some of those farmers who also happen to serve in our caucus. Thank you for all that you do for your communities and beyond!"

National Farmer’s Day is observed to "honor and thank all of the hardworking farmers and ranchers who plow, sow, grow, and harvest to feed our nation," according to the Farmer’s Almanac. The publication notes that October 12 is an appropriate day for celebration because it is near the end of the harvest season. The Farmer’s Almanac suggests various ways individuals can support local farmers, such as buying produce at farmers' markets, visiting pick-your-own farms, and investing in community-supported agriculture (CSA) farm shares.

La Ha was recently appointed to fill the vacancy in the 82nd State House District following John Egofske's resignation. On her appointment as a candidate for Illinois State Representative District 82 in 2024, La Ha expressed gratitude on Facebook and pledged to be a family-focused voice prioritizing safe neighborhoods, exceptional schools, and lower taxes.
