The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is inviting the public to support habitat restoration efforts through the event "A Night for Nature" on Thursday, Sept. 14, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at St. James Farm in Warrenville.
Organized in collaboration with the nonprofit Friends of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, the fundraiser aims to collect $25,000 for restoring habitats and supporting native wildlife within the forest preserves. The event will feature fellowship, food and drinks, live music by Anderlik, Otto & Church, and wagon rides through restored natural areas. Tickets are priced at $100 per person for attendees aged 21 and older and can be purchased online.
“A Night for Nature” will also include a silent auction with items donated by local businesses and unique experiences within the forest preserve.
“’A Night for Nature’ was started in 2018 as a way to encourage support for the District’s wild areas and projects that connect people to nature,” said Karyn Charvat, Friends board member and event committee chair. “It is an amazing opportunity to experience one of our beautiful preserves while contributing to a sustainable environment that enhances the quality of life for all DuPage County residents.”
Forest Preserve District president Daniel Hebreard expressed his gratitude towards Friends' continuous fundraising efforts. “We’re grateful to the Friends for its efforts to help further the Forest Preserve District’s mission to restore habitats and sustain wildlife while providing programs to connect people to nature,” he stated.
The Friends of the Forest Preserve District extended their thanks to community partners including G. Carl Ball Family Foundation; CNH Industrial; Dare Family Fund of DuPage Foundation; Mary J. Demmon Private Foundation; Domtar; DuPage Birding Club; Ecolab Foundation; Edward Jones financial advisor Mike Dyer; Exelon/ComEd; Navistar, Inc.; Nicor; Rice Lake Square; V3 Companies, Ltd.; and Wheaton Bank & Trust.
