Rep. Sanalitro Reflects on First Term

May 23, 2024

"My second legislative session as a lawmaker is nearing a close, and I can’t help but feel gratitude for the opportunity to serve my constituents and our great state of Illinois," said Rep. Jennifer Sanalitro.

Reflecting on her first term, Rep. Sanalitro highlighted several key achievements over the past 18 months. She emphasized her involvement in supporting legislation aimed at improving the state's economic environment, enhancing public safety, and increasing the quality of life for Illinois families. Notable legislative efforts include the passage of the Drug Education and Youth Overdose Prevention Act, establishing October as Italian American Heritage Month, and advocating for child victims of abuse and neglect.

"Staying connected with my constituents has been a top priority," she stated. Her engagement with the community included hosting numerous town halls, community meetings with local officials, and other service-oriented events. She also mentioned an upcoming Summer 2024 Shred Event.

Rep. Sanalitro expressed her commitment to defending small businesses, recognizing their challenges from personal experience as a small business owner alongside her husband. "I have worked tirelessly to support policies that provide relief and keep local small businesses from leaving Illinois," she noted.

Supporting local communities has also been central to her role. "Whether it is your local municipalities board, public works department, or police and fire service – I prioritize making myself available to amplify their needs or concerns while getting them the tools they need to serve you."

Looking ahead, Rep. Sanalitro remains dedicated to serving with a focus on improving both community and state matters. "Together, we will continue to make Illinois a place people want to live – not leave."
