DuPage County Democrat, U.S. Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) slammed President Joe Biden for referring to the Venezuelan murderer of Georgia student Laken Riley as an “illegal” during his State of the Union Address. Ramirez made the comment on X late Thursday.
“Disappointed that POTUS would use such dehumanizing right wing rhetoric to speak about immigrants tonight,” Ramirez wrote. “ No human being is illegal.”
During his State of the Union address, after U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Green (R-GA) demanded the president “say her name,” Biden responded “Lincoln, Lincoln Riley. An innocent woman who was killed by an illegal. That's right. But how many of the thousands of people being killed by illegals.”
Lincoln Riley is a college football coach currently at USC.
Jose Antonio Ibarra, an illegal alien from Venezuela who, federal officials say, snuck across the U.S. border, kidnapped and murdered 22 year old University of Georgia student Laken Riley while she was jogging on the campus, Feb. 22.
Ibarra’s brother, 29 year-old illegal alien Diego Ibarra, was also arrested in Athens. He is accused of being a member of Tren de Argua, an organized violent crime gang based in Venezuela.
Elected in 2022, Ramirez represents Illinois’ new Third Congressional District, which includes parts of Elmhurst, Wood Dale, Bensenville, Addison, Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Glendale Heights, Carol Stream, Naperville, Warrenville and West Chicago.
The district, which stretches from the West Side of Chicago, across West Cook County, across DuPage, then back north into Kane County and Elgin, was gerrymandered to produce a Hispanic member of Congress.
Ramirez is a member of the so-called “Squad” in the Democrat caucus, along with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.), Cori Bush (D-Mo.), Greg Casar (D-Texas), and Summer Lee (D-Pa.).
