Former state representative Jeanne Ives responded to Rep. Sean Casten's (D-Ill.) vote against a bill that would deport illegal immigrants convicted of driving while drunk or impaired.
Casten was one of ten Illinois Representatives, and 150 House Democrats across the country, who voted against H.R. 6976, which was introduced by U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Ala.) The bill passed the House on a vote of 274-150.
“Sean Casten shows once again that he cares more about people who entered the country illegally than American citizens,” Ives told DuPage Policy Journal. “Voting to deport illegals caught driving drunk is the easiest vote to make. He and his colleagues like Delia Ramirez don't care about Jeannie Brady, killed by a drunk driver who was here illegally.”
“The illegal failed to show up for court and likely fled the country. There's no justice for Jeannie Brady,” said Ives. “Voters in her district should vote her out. She's costing money and lives with her votes that defy our laws and commonsense.”
