DuPage County Sheriff's Merit Commission met Dec. 21

DuPage County Sheriff's Merit Commission met Dec. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

1. CALL TO ORDER 

Meeting called to order at 8:32 a.m. by Chairman Reyes. 

2. ROLL CALL 

Upon roll call, Chairman Reyes, Commissioner Kachiroubas, and Commissioner Gravina were present. 

3. PUBLIC COMMENT 

No public comment was offered. 

4. OLD BUSINESS 

a. Bills Payable 

Commissioner Kachiroubas moved and Commissioner Gravina seconded the motion to approve the bills payable list. Roll call vote: all ayes.  

RESULT: APPROVED 

b. Assessment Center 

Discussion on feedback from Stanard & Associates regarding the Assessment Center and the current Merit Commission Rules and Regulations. Counsel Bruckner will prepare a resolution  amending the Rules and Regulations for promotion for the next meeting and Ms. Krygowski will add certification of a rank list for LEB Lieutenant to that agenda. 

5. NEW BUSINESS 

None 

6. REPORT FROM SHERIFF'S OFFICE 

No additional update from the Sheriff's Office aside from the LEB Promotional Exam and  Assessment Center. 

7. EXECUTIVE SESSION 

Commissioner Kachiroubas moved and Commissioner Gravina seconded the motion to enter into Executive Session. Roll call vote: all ayes. 

Undersheriff Moore, Chief Papa, Chief Garcia, Deputy Chief Swanson, Lindsey Stern and  Counsel Bruckner left the room. 

a. Pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) of the Open Meetings Act for the appointment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of a specific employee, one-on-one  interviews. 

The Commission entered into Executive Session at 8:48 a.m. 

The Commission returned to Open Session at 9:30 a.m. 

8. MATTERS TO BE REFERRED FROM EXECUTIVE SESSION (IF ANY) 

a. Action on the certification of candidates subject to one-on-one interviews on December 21, 2023. 

Chairman Reyes called for a motion to certify Corrections candidates 2611 and 2612. Commissioner Kachiroubas moved and Commissioner Gravina seconded the motion. Roll call  vote: all ayes. 

Chairman Reyes called for a motion to certify Lateral Transfer to Law Enforcement candidates  2119, 2120, and 2121. Commissioner Kachiroubas moved and Commissioner Gravina seconded  the motion. Roll call vote: all ayes. 

9. ADJOURNMENT 

Commissioner Kachiroubas moved and Commissioner Gravina seconded the motion to adjourn. Voice vote: all ayes.  

Meeting was adjourned at 9:31 a.m.
