Niki Conforti, the Republican candidate for Illinois’ 6th Congressional District, has highlighted her commitment to public safety after attending a safety meeting hosted by Mayor Keith Pekau of Orland Park, who ran for the 6th Congressional District in 2022. Conforti commended Pekau’s efforts to keep citizens informed about safety measures in place.

“It was a great safety meeting hosted by Mayor Keith Pekau of Orland Park to inform the citizens on what is being done to keep them safe,” Conforti said on Facebook.

“Crime has been on the rise - especially in Cook County, but Mayor Pekau and his police chief have been able to keep it in check with proactive steps. Mayor Mike Glotz of Tinley Park and his Chief are taking innovative steps to protect the public as well.”

On her campaign website, Conforti highlights the necessity for sensible criminal justice reforms and improved police training and procedural improvements. She believes these are initiatives that everyone can support and that she personally endorses.

"The ‘defund the police’ and ‘end cash bail’ agendas are detrimental to the safety of our communities," reads a statement on Conforti’s website. It continues, "They make our families less safe. I oppose releasing violent felons on their own recognizance, and I oppose defunding our local police departments. The radical, left-wing agenda attacking our police needs to end." In addition, it states that "Sensible criminal justice reforms, improved police training, and procedural improvements are initiatives we can all get behind, and ones that I will support."

Conforti's career includes roles as an energy consultant and a 12-year tenure in healthcare within large health systems. She holds a degree from the University of Chicago School of Economics and an MBA in Healthcare Administration from George Washington University. Her family history is marked by immigration, and she carries a military tradition within her familial roots.

In addition to her political aspirations, Conforti’s dedication to community service and philanthropy is evident. She actively contributes to initiatives organized by her church and supports organizations such as the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) and Mothers2Mothers Charities, according to her bio.

The 6th Congressional District is currently represented by U.S. Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill.). According to Casten’s website, the district map includes parts of Cook County, eastern DuPage County and the far Southwest Side of Chicago. It also encompasses several communities including Beverly, Mount Greenwood, Garfield Ridge, Clearing, Orland Hills, Western Springs, Orland Park, Palos Hills, Hickory Hills, Chicago Ridge, Bridgeview, Willow Springs, Indian Head Park, Tinley Park, Evergreen Park, Downers Grove, Lombard, Villa Park, Westmont, Elmhurst, Lisle, Darien and Wheaton.
