State Representative Amy Grant from the 47th District encourages everyone to participate in local charitable activities this holiday season. She invites the community to share information about events or drives in the district so that her office can support and promote notable community-led causes. In her monthly newsletter, she provides updates on her legislative work, key details on issues impacting Illinois, and the community visits she has made across DuPage County.
One of the initiatives launched by Rep. Grant is the 'Illinois Family Priorities Assessment,' an online survey that aims to understand and address the needs of families in Illinois. The assessment focuses on key areas such as education, public safety, cost of living, senior care, and overall quality of life. The feedback collected will be used to evaluate legislation and tailor community initiatives throughout the upcoming year.
Rep. Grant recently attended a Legislative Roundtable Breakfast with multiple school districts in the area. The event provided a platform for school administrators and policymakers to discuss the challenges faced by students, families, teachers, and educational institutions. She highlights some key facts about the school districts in the area, including Naperville School District 203 with a graduation rate of 96% and 4 Blue Ribbon awards, Indian Prairie School District 204 as the fourth-largest school district in Illinois with an exceptional academic record, and Community Unit School District 200 consistently aiming for excellence.
In a disappointing turn of events, Illinois lawmakers failed to act for disadvantaged students by letting the Invest in Kids scholarship program expire. The program had helped over 9,500 low-income students attend schools that best met their learning needs. Despite the program's success, lawmakers did not extend it, leaving the scholarship recipients and those on the waiting list out of luck.
As winter weather arrives, Rep. Grant's office has provided informational blog posts to help residents navigate the cold and wintery conditions. Tips on protecting homes from winter weather and winter road safety are available for reference.
In the spirit of the holiday season, Rep. Grant encourages families to write a letter to Santa through the United States Postal Service. She also promotes supporting small businesses by shopping from the 2023 Illinois Made Gift Guide, which features unique products that make great gifts while supporting local communities.
Rep. Grant's district office remains closed due to maintenance projects, but assistance can still be obtained through email or phone.
