In a disappointing turn of events, Illinois lawmakers failed to act for disadvantaged students by letting the Invest in Kids scholarship program expire. The program had helped over 9,500 low-income students attend schools that best met their learning needs. Despite the program's success, lawmakers did not extend it, leaving the scholarship recipients and those on the waiting list out of luck.
