At 8:57 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a call for a structure fire at a two-story, wood-framed, single-family residential structure on the 4100 Block of Emporia Ct. Naperville 911 (PSAP) dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of ten pieces of fire apparatus and twenty-four personnel including an Incident Commander and an Incident Safety Officer to the reported address. PSAP also advised the occupants to evacuate the building.

At 9:01 p.m., Engine 6 arrived on scene and identified fire showing on the exterior of the home in the rear. Incident command was established, and a 360-degree survey of the home was completed. Crews on scene were able to confirm all occupants were out of the building at the time of NFD arrival. Fire companies quickly worked to extinguish the fire on the exterior of the home with a single hose line. Primary and secondary searches were conducted. No additional occupants were found. Companies on scene conducted overhaul and ventilation to expose any areas of hidden fire or high heat and remove smoke. The fire was contained to the exterior of the home and crews were able to fully extinguish the fire within six minutes of NFD arrival. There was no extension of the fire into the home. Minor smoke was ventilated naturally and no damage to the interior of the home occurred.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department. The Naperville Transportation, Engineering and Development team was notified. Station coverage was provided by Oswego FPD, Bolingbrook FD, and Plainfield FPD. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. There were no injuries to any occupants or firefighters while operating on scene. The home was deemed habitable by the Naperville Transportation, Engineering and Development team.
