The 68-year-old attorney had been a member of the DuPage County Board since 2005 when he was appointed to the public body.

When running for re-election to the slot in 2022 he called for a need “to be conservative in spending” and suggested DuPage County keep “partisan politics off the board floor.”

Puchalski’s former seat was from a traditionally conservative area of the county and included includes Bensenville, Wood Dale and parts of Elmhurst and Bloomingdale.

His law firm, the Law Offices of Donal E. Puchalski focuses on immigration issues and domestic relations.

He was previously a trustee for Addison Township, a member of the Addison Police Pension Board and a Republican precinct committeeman.

"I think every government has to live within their means, and I think DuPage government has been very fiscally responsible and proactive," Puchalski said when first appointed to he board in 2005.

Puchalski  and current GOP DuPage County Board member Sam Tornatore both donated to Conroy’s campaign at the same time after receiving financial support from GOP township organizations in Addison.
