Former longtime Maercker School District 60 Board of Education member Lisa Bishop has earned another term on the board after finishing tied for first with 25.47% of the vote in the April 4 election.

"I don’t really have an agenda; I think one of the big things I plan to keep an eye on is bringing our kids back up to speed after the COVID crisis," Bishop said.

Bishop previously served 17 years on the board, during which time she served as president and vice president and oversaw the hiring of three superintendents. A business owner and youth leader, Bishop bills herself as an optimist, adding, "I strive to make the world a little better each day.”

Bishop finished with 25.47% of the vote, joining Robert Schaefer and Michael Jones in the winner's circle. Schaefer also earned 25.47% of the vote and Jones finished close behind with 25.31% of the vote.

Jones, an incumbent school board member, describes himself as "a dedicated public servant." He has served on the Maercker School District 60 Policy Committee, where he is credited with having been "instrumental in the progress of the district and improving educational equity in the district."
