Lisa Bishop, Robert Schaefer and Michael Jones have been elected to the Maercker School District 60 board of education, with Bishop and Schaefer both getting 25.47% of the vote, followed by Jones with 25.31%.
Bishop was previously a board member for 17 years, during which time she served as president and vice president and oversaw the hiring of three superintendents. She is a business owner and youth leader.
Bishop added more info on her website: “I have been a volunteer with youth since my youth. 17 years serving the children of Maercker District 60 on the Board of Education. 34 years as a discussion leader with high school youth at my church. 35 years of trips to Appalachia to build and repair homes for those in need. I am passionate about helping wherever I am able. Ever the optimist, I strive to make the world a little better each day.”
Jones is an incumbent school board member.
“Michael A. Jones is a highly skilled engineer with over 16 years of experience in nuclear reactor inspection and event response for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission," the slate's campaign website says. "He is also a dedicated public servant, currently serving as a Maercker School District 60 school board member, and serves on the policy committee. In his role on the school board, Michael has been instrumental in the progress of the district and improving educational equity in the district. He has worked to create foundational policies that will better the future of the district for all students.”
Robert Schaefer is Jones' slatemate.
“Robert works as an employee benefits consultant at USI Insurance company," the slate's website says. "As a proud alumni of Purdue University, he served as the secretary and treasurer of the Chicago chapter of the Purdue Alumni Association. In this position, he organized and operated a variety of charity events to give back to the community and brought Boilermakers throughout the greater Chicago area together in the name of philanthropy and service. He holds a B.S. in Consumer and Family Sciences along with a certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.”
