The College Of Du Page District #502 has two positions open and three candidates.
Andrew R. Manno
Andrew R. Manno is a 32-yard-old attorney. He works for Cray Huber Horstman Heil & VanAusdal LLC and is a first-time candidate.
“I currently serve on the audit committee of COD where I am tasked with analyzing sensitive issues facing COD," Manno told the Daily Herald. "This affords me a unique perspective into COD.”
Manno comes from a family of educators. His sister teaches early childhood special education. His cousin, aunt, and uncle are also educators.
"I understand the important role teachers play in every person's life," Manno said. "I believe to be an effective member of the board of trustees, you have to have a passion for education, and have an open mind to new ideas and perspectives.”
Christine M. Fenne
Christine M. Fenne is an incumbent.
She has been a College of DuPage board trustee since 2017.
“Since my initial election in 2017, I have been an executive member of the board, serving as secretary, vice chairman and interim chairman," she told the Daily Herald.
Fenner has led board meetings and retreat meetings in the chairman's absence.
"I am a hardworking trustee who has served on the presidential search committee, liaison to the strategic long-range plan committee, audit committee, auxiliary and outreach committee and liaison to the COD Foundation board," she said.
Fenne is a 54-year-old account executive at AlphaGraphics Wheaton US260.
“I have earned the respect of the administration, faculty and my fellow trustees as a positive and collaborative leader," Fenne said.
She is looking forward "to working together with the trustees and the entire College of DuPage community to implement improvements that increase student success and develop a positive organizational culture.”
Haroon Atcha
Haroon Atcha is a 31-year-old data scientist at US Foods who also works as an adjunct instructor at Arizona State University.
Atcha currently serves as an appointee public member of the Student Success Committee at the College of DuPage.
“As a trustee, I’ll focus on making sure that all students in DuPage county have an equal chance to succeed, regardless of the color of their skin or economic background,” Atcha said on his website.
He is an alumnus of the College of DuPage.
"I received an Associate’s Degree in Business Management, my Bachelor’s Degree at Benedictine University and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Arizona State University,” Atcha said.
According to him, he “spent the last decade fighting for improved higher education and solving complex problems."
"Whether teaching, as a researcher or as a data scientist, I’ve worked to make colleges more accountable and accessible while always putting students first,” he said.
