At the Oct. 27 meeting of the Winfield District 34 School Board, board members heard from Jason Kucera, principal of Winfield Primary & Central Schools, who remarked on the achievements of two eighth graders.
“One of the most exciting things for me to get to do is to recognize students. The middle school teachers recognize two students every month,” Kucera said during the meeting. “In a meeting that we have, we talk about those nominations. And I can tell you that this month these two names came very quickly to the teachers. So it really shows students who are really exemplary, and showing what we are looking for as role models in our school.”
Kucera introduced the two students who were nominated by their teachers to the board to highlight their achievements in school. The first student was eighth grader Emily Kacick. The board heard her teachers' praise for her leadership qualities and her sense of humor. They commended her for her growth and increased confidence in class discussions since sixth grade.
Samantha Mueller was the second student nominated for recognition. Her teachers praised her time management abilities with how she manages her busy schedule between classes, softball and volleyball, and the student leadership team. They credit her incredible work ethic and constantly positive attitude as a great motivator and encouragement to her classmates, especially in group projects.
The board will meet again at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Winfield Central Schools Commons.
