Activist Carol Davis is claiming DuPage County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek is preventing her from serving as an election judge.
Davis, chairman of the Illinois Conservative Union supports Kaczmarek's election opponent, Evelyn Sanguinetti.
"I’ve been an election judge here in Illinois for 18 election cycles," Davis said. "Now, that’s been in DuPage County. Over the last several years I have been outspoken about the procedures not being followed. The law is not being followed. Our county clerk here in DuPage County Jean Kaczmarek blacklisted me from working as a judge this year.”
Davis recently shared an internet meme from Sanguinetti showing a comparison of the two candidates that claims Kaczmarek has not been attending County Board meetings for the past two years and caused the county to lose $4 million in tax revenue.
In May, Republican gubernatorial candidate Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) released a press release accusing Kaczmarek of costing the county $4 million due to her alleged failure to file the proper paperwork to collect marijuana taxes. Bailey said that although he opposed legalizing marijuana, if it is legal, the state should collect all the tax revenue it can from its sale. Bailey went on to say, "She can’t run elections. She can’t file paper work properly. She is a total disaster. DuPage County residents are seeing in real time what the phrase ‘Go Woke Go Broke’ really means."
He also claimed she blamed everyone else for her actions, and he called on her to resign.
Former state Senator Jeanie Ives's organization, Breakthrough Ideas, stood by its assertion of an unlawful vote cast in DuPage County after the Chicago Tribune published what she described as a "hit piece" on Ives that "mischaracterized" her work. In this case, there was a mix-up with an address that led to the confusion, and Ives blames that on the DuPage County Clerk's Office. Breakthrough Ideas claims that it found at least 1,343 voters used old addresses to register for the 2020 election. They also found a 129-vote overcount in two precincts in Addison Township. Ives said that the county clerk's office, and not voters, are to blame for these errors.
Former DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan was defeated on election night 2020 by 75 votes in a race where half a million votes were cast. After a recount discovered that there were 1,600 more ballots cast than the number of people who actually voted, which caused a judge to order a full recount, a first for DuPage County. Illinois GOP Chairman Don Tracy supported Grogan throughout the recount. Final vote counts had Gorgan losing to Democrat William White by a count of 233,121 to 233,046. Now, five people in the area face charges of voting on behalf of deceased people in the 2020 general election. Grogan also filed a petition in DuPage County against White and Kaczmarek asking that he be declared the winner of the race due to "irregularities" in the election including election judges not initializing ballots and more ballots being cast than the number of people who voted.
