October 25, 2022 - Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau has been steadily closing in on Rep. Sean Casten in recent weeks, and the IL-06 Congressional race is now rated a “toss-up”, according to RealClearPolitics. Additionally, POLITICO’s’ Forecast 2022 has moved the race from “likely Democrat” to “lean Democrat.”
“The momentum has been building rapidly in this race, ” said Pekau. “The Sixth Congressional District race is one of the best pick-up opportunities for Republicans in Illinois this year. It’s because, for IL-06 voters, the policies we are discussing - crime, inflation, the economy - are all issues they are feeling the impact of. My opponent and the Democratic Party ignore them and pretend these issues do not exist.”
“People in IL-06 are dealing with rising crime and skyrocketing prices on a daily basis, and they are looking at what our records on these issues are: Sean Casten co-sponsored anti-police legislation in Congress and supports the SAFE-T Act. I worked with local police and federal agencies as mayor to build partnerships that have been effective in combating crime. Sean Casten voted for all the bills that caused inflation to sky-rocket in Congress. I reduced our debt and grew our economy in Orland Park. The contrast between us is clear. The more we talk to voters the more they are getting on board.”
“These rating changes are proof that my campaign is well-positioned to win in November.”
