October 24, 2022 - The National Education Association has endorsed Sean Casten in the race for Illinois’ 6th Congressional District.
Keith Pekau of the endorsement, “The organization that tried to keep schools closed and your children locked out of them during COVID has endorsed my opponent.
The NEA's agenda includes the worst things that we have seen in public education including Common Core, SEL, Standards Based Grading and CRT. Even worse, their agenda is to take parents out of the classroom, label engaged parents as domestic terrorists and stop teachers from telling parents about their student’s struggles with gender identity. A reminder to teachers, that this organization spends a fraction of its money representing members and the majority of teacher’s dues on political activities.”
“This comes as no surprise. Sean Casten, like the NEA, thinks he should regulate every aspect of your life - including how you raise your own children and how you spend your own money. Like the NEA, Sean Casten wants parents out of the way and teachers to do as they’re told, so they can advance their own failed agenda for your children.
“As mayor, and the husband of a teacher, I understand the issues plaguing our education system. I fully support the many good teachers I had, my children had and those throughout the country that work hard to teach our children and put them first. Even more importantly, I support parents and children. Just as I did during the COVID shutdown, I will support parents making decisions about educating their children!”
