A United State Postal Office inspector noted a letter sent to the Downers Grove Library made to look as a threat from white supremacists is “not viewed as a credible threat.”
“Agent Pflanz related that per his headquarters, this is all the information that they are able to provide. Agent Pflanz related that this was not viewed as a credible threat, more of an implied or veiled threat,” USPS Agent K. Pflanz said according to a DuPage County Sheriff incident report.
“Due to no evidence being collected from the envelope its stamps and stickers, the letter, and bullet as well as no suspect information being produced by the USPS Postal Inspectors Division this case is being closed as all leads have been exhausted.”
The threat letter included a bullet and had a confederate flag sticker pasted on it.
"Fag Loven Commies More to Come For Downers Grove Library!” a note inside the letter read.
Despite the investigation not yielding a credible threat, Downers Grove Commissioner Leslie Sadowski took to Twitter where without evidence she blamed the letter on local conservatives.
The threat came amid a community debate over whether a late-night drag performer would be allowed to perform in front of children at the library and host a Drag Queen Bingo” program.
The event was canceled due to other alleged “threats” police also said were not credible.
GOP Precinct Committeemen District 141 Terry Newsome previously said the only threats from locals were not from conservatives and limited to when a man threatened to “show up in drag and fight” him after he spoke out with many others about the drag show at a Downers Grove Village Board meeting.
The canceled drag queen bingo was supposed to have drag queen Aurora Divine as host and performer. He is most known for his racy late-night programs.
Divine was slated to perform a drag performance as part of the show.
