Dr. Kevin Russell, Superintendent of Downers Grove school district, showcased multiple awards achieved by the district at a recent School District 58 Board of Education Meeting.

The Illinois chapter of the National School Public Relations Association, or INSPRA, awarded the Downers Grove School District 58 with five different awards for their communications during the 21-22 school year. The awards were presented on Sept.  9 in honor of the district’s exceptional communication levels. The superintendent announced the awards and thanked everyone at a Sept. 12 School District 58 Board of Education Meeting.

"So I think it's very important. I've said this many times, I have never seen a school district communicate at the building level, in the district level as much as District 58. And I'm very proud of that. And it's something that we want to continue to get better," Russell said at the meeting.

Three of the five awards were awards of excellence. They were given to District 58 facilities: a four-part video series, the 2021 annual report, and the 2021-22 schools of 58 handbook. The two other awards were awards of merit given to the Communicate 58 community newsletter and the 58 connects staff newsletter.

These awards come after the district was recognized by the National School Public Relations Association over the summer, giving awards of excellence for their Communicate 58 newsletter and their 2021 annual report, as well as an honorable mention for the District 58 facilities: four-part video series. The district has received both state and national recognition for their excellent communications both within the district and with their communities.
