It is with great pleasure that the Benedictine University Department of Athletics announces the hiring of alum Blake Keenan as the new head coach of the men's lacrosse program.
Keenan had a hand in building the men's lacrosse program, playing for the team for three years beginning in 2014, the second year of the program. For three years, Keenan was the leading goal scorer in program history, finishing his career with 78 goals, 23 assists and 101 points. The Schaumburg, Il. native was a three-year starter and a two-year captain, earning second team all-conference in 2015.
"The opportunity to return to Benedictine University and lead this program is extremely exciting for me and my family," Keenan said. "I was lucky enough to be a part of the building of this program as a player and having the opportunity to lead them now as a coach is a dream come true. I cannot wait to get to work with this group as we start our journey towards another conference championship."
Following his playing career, Keenan helped start another program, joining former head coach Jay Farrell at North Central College from 2017-19. North Central posted a pair of winning seasons including a 10-4 mark as a first year program.
Keenan departed North Central to become the head coach at Earlham College in Indiana for three years. The program grew in size each year. Keenan also served as an assistant compliance officer.
Besides his work at the collegiate level, Keenan has worked at the club level and high school level.
Keenan inherits a program that has reached the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons.
