DuPage County Ad Hoc Fine Arts Committee met April 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

1. CALL TO ORDER

2:00 PM meeting was called to order by Chair Lynn LaPlante at 2:01 PM.

2. ROLL CALL

A. Motion to Allow Remote Attendee

RESULT: APPROVED [4 TO 0]

MOVER: Sheila Rutledge, District 6

SECONDER: Ashley Selmon, District 1

AYES: Chavez, Selmon, Rutledge, Deacon Garcia

AWAY: Hart

ABSENT:

County Staff Present: Jason Blumenthal (Policy & Program Manger), Nick Alfonso (State's Attorney's Office), Joan Olson (Chief Communications Officer), Evan Shields

Committee Advisors Present in Person: Gary Bedalov (Choose DuPage)

3. MINUTES APPROVAL

A. Ad Hoc Fine Arts Committee - Regular Meeting - Apr 12, 2022 2:00 PM

No public comment offered.

5. CHAIRWOMAN'S REMARKS - CHAIR LAPLANTE

Chair LaPlante welcomed the committee and provided a brief overview. She asked that everyone provide an update.

6. DISCUSSION

A. DuPage Community Arts Festival

Chair LaPlante asked that everyone on the committee help with the media blitz through their social media outlets and mentioned that an electronic flyer will be provided to share with their stakeholders. Chair LaPlante also asked Greg Bedalov (Choose DuPage) to provide an update on media outlets, which he provided. Joan Olson (Chief Communications Officer) also provided an update on how the County Board Office will provide media assistance. Chair LaPlante also stated that this will be a family friendly event and confirmed the headliners that will be participating.

Each committee member provided an update and overview.

Mr. Bedalov asked about volunteers and food for the VIP night and asked that information be sent to Amy Schilling (Choose DuPage). Chair LaPlante stated Ms. Schilling is involved in all communications and an email was sent out today regarding that very matter. Member Rutledge asked about volunteer T-shirts, discussion ensued and will be referred to a work group for a final decision.

Jim Newcomb (Old Town School of Folk Music) provided a brief overview of the acts that will be participating at the event. He continues to advertise the event through his media outlets. Mr. Newcomb also suggested to ask the artists to mention the event on their social media.

Mr. Bedalov inquired about the status of the sponsorship banners. Chair LaPlante responded and asked that all sponsorships be finalized in the next 48 hours.
