DuPage County Sheriff's Merit Commission met April 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Members Present

Meeting was called to order at 8:35 a.m. in Conference Room 3500A of the Jack T. Kneupfer Administration Building, 421 North county Farm Road, Wheaton, Illinois. 

Roll Call

On roll call, Chairman Reyes, Commissioner Kachiroubas, and Commissioner Gravina were present.

Public Comment - None

Old Business

a) Entrance Exam Updates - Ms. Krygowski informed the Commission that candidates who passed the March 12, 2022 Corrections entrance exam would take the Corrections Agility Test on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Those who pass the Corrections Agility Test will be mailed applications, which will be due by the end of June. Candidates who passed the March 26,2022 Law Enforcement entrance exam received applications in the mail; applications are due by May 20,2022. Ms. Krygowski recommended a date of Saturday, July 16, 2022 for the next Corrections entrance exam to ensure the flow of candidates.

New Business

a) Budget Transfer for Advertising - Ms. Krygowski explained that additional funds are required to cover the negative balance for advertising as well as to cover the costs of additional advertising on wlvw.,thebl_Uelinq.com public safety job board. Chairman Reyes called for a motion to transfer $1,500.00 from account 53090 "Other Professional Services" to account 53801 "Advertising." Commissioner Kachiroubas moved. Seconded by Commissioner Gravina. Roll call. All ayes. Motion carried.

Additions to the Agenda

a) Ms. Krygowski recommended rescheduling the May 5,2022 scheduled meeting since two Commissioners would not be able to attend in-person. Discussion on potential dates. Chairman Reyes instructed Ms. Krygowski to cancel the May 5,2022 meeting. The Commission will meet as planned on May 19,2022 and take care of all business for the month.

Report from Sheriff's Office - None

Executive Session Audio. Recording Review - Pursuant to Section 5 ILCS 12012(c)(21) of the Open Meetings Act, the Commissioners reviewed audio recordings older than 18 months. Chairman Reyes explained that all the audio recordings reviewed were older than 1B months. Counsel Reynolds added that the meeting minutes from all the audio recordings reviewed were also approved for release. Chairman Reyes called for a motion to destroy audio recordings from 9/12/2019; 10/10/2019; 1/16/2020; 1/23/2020; 2/6/2020; 2/13/2020; 2/20/2020; 4/2/2020; 4/16/2020', 5/7/2020', 5/21/2020; 6/4/2020',6/18/2020; 7/9/2020; 7/16/2020; 8/5/2020; 8/13/2020; 8/20/2020; 9/3/2020; 10/1/2020', and 10/15/2020. Commissioner Kachiroubas moved Seconded by Commissioner Gravina. Roll call. All ayes. Motion carried. Chairman Reyes instructed Ms. Krygowski to delete audio recordings from those dates.

Adjournment into Executive Session

Chairman Reyes called for a motion to convene into Executive Session pursuant to 5 ILCS 12012(c)(1) for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of a specific employee, One-on-one interviews. Commissioner Kachiroubas moved. seconded by commissioner Gravina, Roll call. All Ayes. Motion carried.

The Commission convened into Executive Session atB.44 a.m.

The Commission convened back into Regular session atg:27 a.m.

On roll call, Chairman Reyes, Commissioner Kachiroubas, and Commissioner Gravina were present.

Matters to be referred from Executive Session: a) None - candidates 2240 and 2322were not certified

Chairman Reyes called for a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Kachiroubas moved, Seconded by Commissioner Gravina. Roll call. All Ayes. Motion carried.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:28 a.m.
