Village of Lombard News: Yard Waste Collection, Controlled Burns, & More

Lombard Yard Waste Collection Begins April 4

Yard waste collection begins the week of April 4. Stickers are required for yard waste bags, cans, and bundled brush. Stickers are $2.57 each and will be available for purchase at the following local stores. 

  • 7-Eleven, 594 S. Main Street, Lombard
  • Ace Hardware, 837 S. Westmore-Meyers, Lombard
  • Jewel, 1177 S. Main Street, Lombard
  • Jewel, 33 E. St. Charles Road, Villa Park
  • Johnson’s Lighthouse BP, 1 W. St. Charles Road, Villa Park

    2022 Controlled Burns

Beginning the week of March 28, 2022, the Village of Lombard’s Public Works Department, in conjunction with Bedrock Earthscapes, LLC of Wheaton, will be performing controlled (prescribed) burns to help promote healthy native vegetation at the following locations:
  • Terrace View Pond 
  • Morris Pond 
  • Echo Pond 
  • Grace/Central Pond
  • The Surges Center Public Works Complex 
  • Village Complex Pond 
Due to the timeline of the controlled burns relying heavily on weather conditions, notice will be given one day prior to the burn and will be posted on the Village website and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). Residents may also sign-up to receive e-mails notices and updates at www.villageoflombard.org/notifyme
Police Department Announces St. Patrick’s Day Enforcement Results

To help keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure people buckled up during this year's St. Patrick's Day festivities,  Lombard Police ran the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket enforcement effort from Mar. 11 - Mar. 18. During the effort, the Lombard Police Department made 157 stops, issued 96 citations, including 12 seatbelt citations, and made 11 arrests. 


2022 Business Sponsorships Available for Cruise Nights

The 2022 Lombard’s Cruise Nights and Summer Concerts Series will kick off its 23rd season this June, with 10 live outdoor concerts on Saturday evenings in downtown Lombard, in conjunction with a large display of unique and antique cars. This renowned annual event draws 500 - 1,000+ attendees on a weekly basis throughout the summer.

4th Annual Public Works Citizens Academy Begins in April

Have you ever wondered how Lombard's water is treated? Or how our streets are maintained? If the answer is yes, then Lombard's Public Works Citizens Academy is for you! This free program is open to residents ages 18+. Classes will be held on 4 consecutive Monday evenings from 6 - 8:30 p.m., beginning April 18th.

Throughout the program, participants will tour Lombard's Public Works facilities, learn about the various Public Works Divisions, and receive hands-on training and demonstrations.
