Artist Reception at Village Hall Gallery

Tuesday, 3/15 at 6 p.m., Bartlett Village Hall, 228 S. Main Street

Arts in Bartlett is proud to present a new art exhibit by the Midwest Hakka Association community, “The Colorful Views from the Eyes of Hakkanese Americans," from 3/1 to 4/29, at the Bartlett Village Hall 2nd floor gallery. The gallery is open to the public Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon.

Everyone is invited to the free reception to meet the artists on Tuesday, 3/15 from 6 to 8 p.m. Masks are recommended inside the building.

This lovely art exhibit is the kickoff of several events celebrating the 20th anniversary of Arts in Bartlett. The Midwest Hakka Association has cultivated a close relationship with Arts in Bartlett, as well as with the Village of Bartlett and is honored to be part of such an important milestone. This art exhibit also marks the 12th anniversary of the Sister Cities relationship between Miaoli City, Taiwan and Bartlett, Illinois.

With more than 20 pieces of artwork in the village hall gallery, and four more pieces in the Arts in Bartlett gallery across the street, this exhibit is a celebration of Hakka arts and culture from the eyes of the Hakkanese American artists. It includes scenic views of both Taiwan and the United States, still life paintings of every day life and beautiful calligraphy poems. Several of these talented individuals come from three generations of creative artists.

The artist reception will begin with a social hour with light snacks, followed by a photo opportunity with the many visitors and dignitaries who will be attending, a proclamation of Hakka Month and Sister Cities relationship by the mayor of Bartlett, ending with a lively talk by the participating artists.
