Family Enrichment Workshop
March 20 | Sunday | 2-3P | Cosley Zoo
Cosley Zoo’s animals receive enrichment every day. Enrichment lets our animals make choices and exhibit natural behaviors such as climbing, hunting for food, and using their senses. In this workshop, your family will make enrichment activities for some of the zoo’s animals, and then we’ll head out into the zoo to see enrichment in action! Each of the monthly sessions is different, so join us all summer long. After the program, you’re welcome to stay and tour the zoo on your own at no additional charge. March 29 | Ages 18 & Over | Tuesday | 9A-4P | Dixon, IL
Why “distinguished” you ask? It’s hard to think of Dixon without associating the name of her most famous son, Ronald Wilson Reagan. The former President is well-known for calling Dixon his hometown, as he spent his formative years there attending its schools and working summers as a lifeguard at the Lowell Park Beach. Dixon was instrumental in forming the character of our 40th U.S. President. We plan to visit and tour his boyhood home and learn all about his beginnings. It’s also the home of the John Deere Historic Site. Hear the clang of the hammer. Feel the heat from the forge. Watch the iron melt and take shape. Stand in the spot where John Deere created the first commercially successful steel plow and relive the experience of this original blacksmith shop. Enjoy time for lunch at the Galena Steakhouse. Meal includes soup and salad, and a choice of 1) parmesan-crusted tilapia with five different cheeses, Italian herbs and seasoning, 2) smothered chicken breast topped with mushrooms, onion and mozzarella cheese or 3) chopped steak cooked to your liking.
