Superintendent shares information about state Joint Committee ruling

Dear Glenbard Families,

Thank you for your continued understanding and support as we work to comply with state guidelines and mandates and provide appropriate safety protocols for our students and staff.

Today’s ruling by the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) regarding masks in school was unexpected and complex. JCAR is a legislative oversight committee in charge of reviewing administrative rules created by state agencies. The Appellate Court, which is reviewing the temporary restraining order in the Springfield lawsuit, has ordered the Illinois Attorney General and the plaintiffs’ attorneys to address the impact of the JCAR ruling by 1:00 p.m. tomorrow.

D87 is currently working with its attorneys to determine how today’s JCAR ruling and the submittals to the Appellate Court tomorrow impact our efforts to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. Pending assessment of these developments, D87 is maintaining its mask requirements.

We expect to have an updated position that reflects these developments very soon, and I will update you. Again, thank you for your partnership, cooperation and support.

Sincerely,
David F. Larson, Ed.D.
Superintendent
