Midwestern University and BHHS Legacy Foundation Celebrate 10 Years of Providing Healthcare Experiences for High Schoolers

18

Continuing a long-standing partnership, Midwestern University is pleased to announce that the BHHS Legacy Foundation has provided a $25,000 grant aimed at fostering healthcare career experiences for over 2,000 Valley high school students in 2022. The grant renewal marks 10 years of one of Arizona’s most fruitful relationships in providing exceptional opportunities for high schoolers to explore careers in the health sciences.

The grant will support Midwestern University’s spring and summer programs for high schoolers, beginning on March 2nd with the Arizona Regional Brain Bee. Midwestern University will then host the Health Sciences Virtual Career Month for High School Students in April. The capstone event, the seven-day Health Careers Institute for High School Students, takes place from July 15th to July 23rd.

The BHHS Legacy Foundation’s mission and vision is to help community organizations improve the health and quality of life of citizens in need. To date, both the Foundation and Legacy Connection have invested more than $120 million to highly effective nonprofit projects, programs, and organizations that provide care and services to the underserved in the community. Event Information:

A live competition similar to a spelling bee, the Arizona Regional Brain Bee offers students the chance to compete for scholarships and other prizes by answering questions about the brain and central nervous system. The Virtual Health Sciences Career Month is an online campaign designed for high school classes to benefit from videos, hands-on activities, and Q & A sessions designed by Midwestern’s healthcare professionals to highlight the various healthcare career programs offered at the University. For students who want to learn about health careers more in depth, Midwestern will offer its seven-day Health Careers Institute for High School Students in July, featuring in-person workshops and skill activities, as well as important information on college preparation.
