4. CHAIRWOMAN'S REMARKS - CHAIR CHAPLIN
Chair Chaplin welcomed the members of the committee and introduced Chief Guenther of the Westmont Police Department to begin the Presentation.
5. PRESENTATION
A. Emergency Response Vehicles
Chief Guenther of the Westmont Police Department began by welcoming members of the Merit Executive Board in attendance. He introduced a video showcasing members of the MERIT Task Force. A power point followed the video with a brief overview of the MERIT Task Force which is comprised of 36 agencies. The task force has been activated over 550 times since August 2019. The task force is a large-scale multifunction task force with an appointed command structure maintained by nominal dues, $6,500 per year, and personnel contributions. Currently, the only vehicle owned by MERIT is a converted ambulance used to store SWAT equipment. The BearCat being currently used is on loan from ILEAS. The task force is requesting one communications vehicle and one BearCat rescue vehicle. Members of the committee were invited to ask questions of the Chief.
Member Ozog inquired about availability of these vehicles. Due to supply chain issues, the County could take delivery between 6-12 months. Many members voiced support for the task force and the purchase of both vehicles.
