GLEN ELLYN, IL – Today, Stefanie Hood launched her campaign for state representative in the 42nd District, encompassing portions of Downers Grove, Lisle, Milton, and York townships in DuPage County.

“I am running for state representative because everyone should have access to a better future,” said Hood. “Rising crime rates, fleeing residents, increasing taxes, and lowering education standards make it more difficult for Illinoisans to achieve the American dream as career politicians ask taxpayers to pay more without any tangible results. To restore our place as the economic hub of the Midwest and a safe, affordable place to raise a family, we require new policies and leadership in Springfield.”

With hard-working parents who stressed the importance of having a strong education and work ethic, Stefanie used these lessons to become the first in her family to graduate college. She often worked multiple jobs to support herself while also attending college full-time and throughout law school.

Stefanie is now an attorney at Edwards, Maxson, Mago, & Macaulay, LLP, focused on matters related to data privacy, health care, non-profit governance, and regulatory compliance.

Stefanie has always had a passion for being involved in her community, from tutoring and mentoring elementary school students to helping families cope with mental illness. She serves on the Board of Commissioners for the DuPage Housing Authority, the National Alliance on Mental Illness DuPage, and the 708 Community Mental Health Board.

Stefanie received her undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and studied International Economics at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. In 2009, she graduated from The University of Illinois Chicago Law School. Working on issues involving humanitarian assistance to foreign nations, she served as an intern in law school to the General Counsel of the U.S. Agency for International Development in Washington, D.C.

Stefanie resides in Glen Ellyn with her husband and two children. For more information on Stefanie Hood’s campaign, visit www.hood4house.com.
