DuPage County Veterans Assistance Commission Board met Nov. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Meeting called to order at 1900 hours at DuPage County Complex by Mayor with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor followed by a moment of silence for those departed and those who might be in harm's way.

Roll Call:

Bruce Mayor, Don Sender, Rich Greenwald, Del Miller, Frank Trout, John Schmitt, Phil Maughan, and Alan Mendelssohn A quorum was present.

Alternates in attendance: Lisa Mattingly

VAC staff: Steve Fixler, Bill Brophy, Bernadette Wawczak

Guests:

President's Opening Remarks: The DuPage Veteran’s Resource Fair was a great success.

Treasurer: As of 12 Nov 21

Credit Union (500)

Checking - $75.51

Savings - $1083.07

After discussion, it was moved by Miller and seconded by Maughan that the Treasurer's report be accepted subject to audit. M/C.

Secretary:

Minutes were read. It was moved by Mendelssohn and seconded by Greenwald to approve the minutes as read. M/C.

Superintendent:

- Budget Status: Budgeted 95.0% Spent 64.7% Under 30.3%

- Budget-Balances attached

- Veteran’s Resource Fair, Auditorium, Nov 4

- Habitat for Humanity Veteran’s Build, Nov 11

- Toys for Tots

- National Desert Storm War Memorial Night, Wolves Game, Jan 9, 2022, 3pm

Motion was made by Trout and seconded by Mendelssohn to accept Superintendent's report. M/C.

Good of the Commission:

Mattingly – American Legion Post #76 has their final Turkey Shoot, this Sunday, 9:30am. This benefits Christmas Baskets for Veterans in the area.

Mayor – VA Hines Hospital Food Pantry, tomorrow, 10am, Thanksgiving meal, Turkey, Hams etc…

Executive Session: N/A

Old Business:

- Nomination Committee Chairman Miller announced the second round of nominations for FY’22 Executive Officers. President – Bruce Mayor, Vice President – Don Sender, Secretary – Rich Wagner, Treasurer – Rich Greenwald, Judge Advocate – Del Miller. No other nominations were offered. M - Trout, S - Mendelssohn to close the nominations. M/C

M- Mendelssohn, S-Greenwald to have the Secretary cast one unanimous ballot for all the nominated officers. Roll call vote was taken. Don Sender – Aye, Rich Greenwald - Aye, Del Miller - Aye, Frank Trout - Aye, John Schmitt – Aye, Alan Mendelssohn – Aye, Phil Maughan - Aye. M/C

- Dec Annual Dinner – 1830, Meeting starts at 1900.

- Swearing-in of Board Officers, Dec 15, 1900hrs
