DuPage County Economic Development Committee met Nov. 16.

Chairwoman Chavez thanked the County Board Chairs from all seven collar counties for meeting to work on the Tourism Workforce & Economic Development Northeast Regional Plan. The Chairwoman also thanked all the partners for playing a critical role collaborating on that plan and representing DuPage County. The final meeting will take place later in the week.
Chairwoman Chavez also noted that the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau would make a short statement in the meeting and reiterated that the DCVB continues to play a leading role in the recovery of the hospitality industry with over 140 leads for future business in 2022 and 2023. They will be on the January agenda for Economic Development to request their annual contribution.

A. Budget Transfers -- To Transfer funds from Regular Salaries to Benefit Payments and Tuition Reimbursement. Benefit Payments cover retention payment to employees who retired and payment of vacation time sold, and to cover payment of tuition assistance. Moving from Accounting Unit 2840 - Account 50000 to Accounting Unit 2840 - Accounts 51000 and 51070.

Lisa Miceli, Choose DuPage, presented on their Supplier Diversity Program. The goals of this program are to promote commercial collaboration within DuPage by providing a means for businesses to access local suppliers and vendors within their supply chains and raise awareness for DuPage's certified veteran, minority, women, disadvantaged, and disabled-owned businesses, and foster connections for those looking to increase their operations within the DuPage business community. They will also address the recent supply chain challenges caused by the pandemic that have impacted the DuPage business community. Ms. Miceli explained their four-prong approach and ways to measure their success. Questions were taken from Committee members. Chairwoman Chavez asked for and received general consensus from the Committee to move this program forward for ARPA funding approval through the Finance Committee. Additionally, there was discussion and consensus from the Committee about doing another round of grant funding for small business relief.
11. DCVB - BETH MARCHETTI
Beth Marchetti made a brief statement on upcoming events and programs hosted by DCVB and reminded the Committee that they will be presenting for their annual contribution in January. Questions were taken from Committee Members.
